Note: The thoughts came to me in a rush. My original title would have been Death, Sin and Eternal Life but I have decided to break them down into several parts for easier understanding. This is Part 1.
The Bible mentions about the spirit, soul and body. We are all aware what the body refers to. Most may not be sure how to differentiate between the spirit and soul. Here's my thoughts:
My local pastor preached before that mankind became dead to God when Adam and Eve sinned against God in Genesis. To die to God means here to be unable to communicate/interact with God and thus it is because their spirit died. This was the preferred view to say that God did not mean an immediate physical death when He warned Adam and Eve about the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
During this time, I was told that spirit, soul and body are all 3 parts of us as humans just like our Triune God. But now I think differently.
Soul = conscious part of a person that is able to will and think and defines the true self.
The soul resides in the body to allow us to communicate with other physical beings. The soul resides in the spirit to allow us to communicate with other spiritual beings.
The spirit is a parallel of our body but in the spiritual realm.
